She Saw a Need in the Berkshires—and an Opportunity to Build Something Better.
Katie started KB Accounting while working at 1Berkshire. Being closely connected with businesses throughout the region gave her a firsthand look at a growing problem: businesses desperately needed good bookkeeping and accounting support, but there simply weren't enough people available to provide it.
Experienced bookkeepers were retiring, and not enough new professionals were entering the field to replace them.
At the same time, Katie saw business owners working incredibly hard to build something they cared about while still feeling uncertain about their finances. They might have had someone keeping their books, but that didn't necessarily mean they understood what the numbers were telling them, where their business was headed, or how to use that information to make better decisions.
